Master Colour Workshop: Course Content

The Master Colour Workshop begins with an exploration of the science of color perception. Participants will learn how rods, cones, and light wavelengths influence our ability to see colors, providing a foundation for understanding a basic color palette.

This workshop delves into the essentials of color mixing. Participants will focus on mixing many variations of the primary colors (blue, red, and yellow) resulting in numerous combinations  of secondary colors. They will learn to compare to identify the bias of  the many colours they have created. By developing the skill of identifying colour bias, students will be able to reproduce most colours accurately. A key component of the course is teaching the significance of value in art using black and white paint. Participants will learn why value is critical for effective painting and how to achieve the correct value by starting with #5.

Class time will primarily be devoted to students applying color to their own canvases.

Every aspect of the artistic process will be monitored during the workshop as you paint your canvas, concluding with a discussion and critique, allowing participants the opportunity to share their work with other artists.

DATES: Sept. 11/12-CLASS A- Sept 25/26-CLASS B

TIMES BOTH SESSIONS- 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
LOCATION: Finn Atelier, 6683-304 Horne Rd Sooke (Material List at Registration)

TESTIMONIAL - ONSITE CLASSES

Dagmar Boettcher As an extrovert, I never imagined I'd be painting, especially with acrylics. I had tried watercolours 25 years ago but came from a business background in real estate, often lost in thought. I felt nervous before my first class, but Carole's encouragement helped me relax and embrace painting. Now, my works blend realism and magic, and Carole has been the perfect first teacher!

My main artistic expression is pottery, but I'm also enjoying learning acrylic painting with Carole Finn, who is an excellent teacher. I took this photo at Silent Lake Provincial Park on a September morning when the leaves were starting to change. The contrast of light and dark in this scene captivated me. I still have much to learn about painting and I'm excited to continue my journey.

Beth Cook After raising two boys and a nursing career of 40 years, I now can pursue painting. This is my first !!! This is my second set of art classes Love the challenge, carol is a great teacher
